Jamia Millia Islamic JBT Scholarship for
Postgraduates and Research Scholars


The Jamia Millia Islamia JBT Scholarship is a scholarship awarded by the Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi . The Jamia Millia University in Jamia Nagar, of Mathura Road is famous for its courses on West Asian and Islamic studies. Presently, the Jamia Milia University has student strength of more than 6000 among which a great many are foreigners.

The Jamia Millia Islamia University has introduced the Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholarships or JBT Scholarships to reward students who have performed brilliantly in the academic field and have also been good leaders and perfect citizens. The JBT scholarships were introduced by the University of Illinois , College of ACES to develop these qualities among young students who have just passed out of high school. The JBT scholarships are awarded purely on the basis of merit and are financed by contributions received by the Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholarship Program. Jonathan Baldwin Turner, an agricultural worker and lecturer at the University of Illinois , USA opened up education in agriculture in his state and country, in the 1850’s. Turner had in mind, a global and exhaustive system of education in agriculture. The scholarships are awarded for a maximum period of 10 months and a total of 10 scholarships are awarded.

Scholarship Type : Scholarships and Fellowships for Postgraduates and Reasearch Scholars

Award Value : The value of scholarships under the JBT Scheme is determined according to the rules of the Jamia Millia University.

Eligibility : The eligibility criteria for candidates applying for the JBT scholarships from the Jamia Millia University are the same as that for students applying for admission to the post-graduation courses in the University . The scholarships are awarded to those students who have secured the top positions in their respective subjects of study in the under graduate courses.

Process : Applications for the JBT scholarships of the Jamia Millia University have to be sent in the prescribed format to the Jamia Millia University within the date fixed under the notification. The notification for the scholarships is normally published 30 days after the results of the Final Examinations are announced.
